RICHARD DIEGO

Richard Diego has extensive experience in general management with a focus in international financial services, investment banking and private banking.

He is currently Country Manager of the Royal Bank of Canada. Previously he was Managing Director and Country Manager for Chile and Paraguay for Prudential Securities, Chile, LLC , a U.S. diversified financial institution, where he has worked since 1995.

Among his major accomplishments he:

Executed start-up operations for Prudential in Chile.
Supervised acquisitions and the absorbtion of a Paraguayan brokerage company.
Grew Prudential’s private banking business to profitable levels with an executive team of 20 professionals, and private banking assets in excess of US$500 million.
Previously, between 1989 to 1994, he served as Managing Director and Country Manager for Continental Bank, a subsidiary of Continental Bank, Chicago, IL, that was acquired by Bank of America in 1994.

Mr. Diego was responsible for the overall management of Continental Bank’s activities in Chile, including a full-service commercial bank, a brokerage house and proprietary equity investment operations. Before this, he held various positions at the American Express Company, the American Express Bank and at the Chase Manhattan Bank.

Mr. Diego is Juris Doctor from New York Law School. He was admitted to the New York Bar in 1974. He also holds a B.A. in Political Science from Rutgers University. He has been member of various boards of directors and currently serves on the Board of Lyons Holding. He was also a Director of AmCham from 1983 to 1985 and from 1998 to the present. He was elected President of AmCham’s Board in March 2003, position that he held until March 2005
