El 7 de agosto, el Premio de Periodismo Siemens 2013 fue otorgado a la periodista del diarioLa SegundaBernardita Castillo en el Restaurant Cumarú.

En la cuarta versión del premio, Castillo ganó el reconocimiento con su artículo "Incremento de Residuos Impone Nuevos Retos a Municipios", publicado el 29 de agosto del 2012, en el suplemento deLa Segunda“La Ruta de la Sustentabilidad”. El artículo se basó en su investigación sobre el sistema de recolección de basura en los municipios chilenos. En septiembre, Castillo viajará a Londres para visitar The Crystal, la iniciativa de ciudades sustentables de Siemens.

"Creemos que los medios de comunicación cumplen un rol fundamental en comunicar de manera correcta estos temas en la comunidad y concientizar a los diferentes actores sobre el desarrollo de tecnologías que nos ayuden a crear un mundo mejor”, aseguró el gerente general de Siemens Chile, Juan Ignacio Díaz.

On August 7, the 2013 Siemens Journalism Award was presented toLa Segundajournalist Bernardita Castillo at Restaurant Cumarú. This is the fourth edition of the prize.

Castillo’s winning article, "More Waste Creates New Challenges for Municipalities", was published on August 29, 2012, in theLa Segundasupplement “La Ruta de la Sustentabilidad” (The Sustainability Route). It was based on her investigation of waste collection systems in Chilean municipalities. In September she was scheduled to travel to London to visit Siemen’s sustainabile cities initiative, The Crystal.

"We believe that the media play a fundamental role in properly communicating these issues in the community, and educating stakeholders on the development of technologies that will help us to create a better world," said the CEO of Siemens Chile, Juan Ignacio Díaz.
