Pressing ahead with its mission of promoting wider debate about corporate governance, the Centro para el Gobierno de la Empresa (Center for Corporate Governance) - established earlier this year by AmCham, the Catholic University, the Manufacturers’ Association (SOFOFA), the Santiago Chamber of Commerce, the Association of AFPs, and the Santiago Stock Exchange - held a seminar in May. The event entitled “Vital Issues for Corporate Governance in Chile Today” was attended by over 150 people, and covered topics ranging from disclosure of information and the role of directors to the implications of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and the future of ADR shares.
