El 8 de agosto se realizó la final del Gran Debate Corporativo en AmCham entre los equipos de Maersk y la Academia Diplomática de Chile Andrés Bello. En un disputada contienda, Maersk ganó el debate argumentando a favor del tema: “English should be a required subject in all Chilean schools and should form part of the University Entrance Exam (PSU)” (“El inglés debería ser un ramo obligatorio en todos los colegios de Chile y debería ser parte de la Prueba de Selección Universitaria (PSU)”).

El equipo de Maersk estuvo compuesto por Cristián Galleguillos, Patricio Fernández, Ignacio Elórtegui y Mario Longhi. Ambos equipos participaron en el Gran Debate Corporativo por segundo año consecutivo.

La presidenta de AmCham, Kathleen Barclay, estuvo presente en la final, junto con familiares y amigos de los dos equipos finalistas. El jurado de la séptima versión de la competencia anual de debate estuvo conformado por Michael Combes, Robin Kinsman, Russell Baker, Luciano Claude, James Channing y Felipe Ibarra. En las semifinales, celebradas el 1 de agosto, Maersk se impuso a Santander y Andrés Bello venció a DHL.

On August 8, the final of The Great Corporate Debate was held at AmCham between teams from Maersk and the Andrés Bello Diplomatic Academy of Chile. In a close fought contest, Maersk won the debate arguing in favor of the motion: “English should be a required subject in all Chilean schools and should form part of the University Entrance Exam (PSU).”

The Maersk team was comprised of Cristian Galleguillos, Patricio Fernández, Ignacio Elórtegui and Mario Longhi. Both teams were participating in The Great Corporate Debate for the second consecutive year.

AmCham President Kathleen Barclay attended the final, along with friends and family members of the two finalists. The judges for the seventh version of the annual debate competition were Michael Combes, Robin Kinsman, Russell Baker, Luciano Claude, James Channing and Felipe Ibarra. In the semi-finals, held on August 1, Maersk beat Santander and Andrés Bello edged out DHL.
