  1. Chile Foreign Investment Committee


This is an agency of the Chilean central government that promotes trade and investment in Chile and disseminates information about trade and foreign direct investment in Chile. The agency boasts extensive resources and economic data about Chilean commerce.



  1. Chilean Foreign Affairs Ministry


The Chilean Foreign Affairs Ministry played a significant role in the creation of the U.S. – Chile Free Trade Agreement of 2004.  The site provides important contact information for Chilean officials and otherwise useful data for conducting business relationships in Chile.



  1. Chilean Ministry of Public Purchases and Contracts


The official Chilean government site for government procurement. It allows the government to ensure transparency, efficiency, and quality in their purchases of goods for official use.  (In Spanish)



  1. The Central Bank of Chile


The Central Bank of Chile is an independent entity that has the sole authority to issue Chilean currency. The bank seeks to keep domestic inflation at 3% per year with less than 1% of deviation. The Bank maintains an excellent English website that offers a wide range of economic data.



  1. General Directorate for International Economic Affairs (Direcon)


Direcon works with the Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and seeks to enhance and to expand Chilean competitiveness in international markets. The principle efforts of Direcon include: trade negotiations, trade agreements, and exports promotion. Other initiatives include protecting Chilean investments, attracting more foreign investment to Chile, increasing the spread of technology throughout Chile, and educating the Chilean public as to the benefits for Chile of free and competitive trade in international markets.  (In Spanish)



  1. National Statistics Institute


The National Statistics Institute of Chile (INE) maintains an English-language website with excellent data on prevalent subjects such as: economic trends, building, price indices, energy, and industries. The INE English website is an extremely useful resource for studying the Chilean economy and society.



U.S. Government


  1. The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR)


USTR is an agency of the Executive Office of the U.S. President that is charged with forging and protecting commercial relationships between the U.S. and other nations. The U.S. Trade Representative is a cabinet-level official who negotiates commercial treaties with other countries and regions, including the FTA with Chile. Click here to see the USTR official site on the U.S. – Chile FTA.



  1. The U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC)


ITC is another government office that protects American interests in matters of bilateral and multilateral trade. ITC investigates issues such as antidumping, copyright infringement, and other unfair trade practices in order to protect U.S. industries. It assists U.S. policymakers with economic analysis and information on unfair trade practices.



  1. U.S. Government Export Portal (Export.gov)


The U.S. Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration created this site as a bank of information to help U.S. firms export in the most fair and competitive manner possible. It is a wealth of economic analysis from a variety of government offices.



  1. The U.S. Export-Import Bank


The Export-Import bank is the official credit source for U.S. firms seeking to export goods. By financing such sales, the “Ex-Im Bank” works to increase net U.S. exports and thereby to foster domestic employment growth.



  1. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC)


The FTC handles a broad array of economic issues relating to the domestic and international American commerce. The FTC works with other government agencies to promote the interests of U.S. companies and consumers in the international marketplace



Pro-Trade Organizations


  1. Trade Roots


Trade Roots is an entity of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the largest non-profit business federation in the world. Trade Roots spreads awareness of international commerce on a local level. The organization’s website offers valuable information on trade statistics, various reports, contacts, and “how to” guides to international trade.



  1. ProChile


As an agency of the Chilean Ministry of Foreign Relations, ProChile plays a leading role in spreading information about the benefits of trading with Chile. The site (most of which is in Spanish) has a rich amount of historical and commercial data, including its “Virtual Library.”



  1. Acción RSE


Similar to ProChile, but a private organization, Acción RSE also seeks to increase the economic wellbeing of Chile through promoting trade, high business ethics, business vision, environmental conservation, responsible marketing and commercialization, and community service.



  1. TradeChile


TradeChile is an organization similar to AmCham as it offers benefits to businesses that become members of its network and thereby seeks to facilitate trade through coordination.



  1. AACCLA


The American Association of Chambers of Commerce in Latin America includes numerous different AmChams among its members including AmCham Chile. Chambers of Commerce throughout Central and South American comprise its members.



  1. Council on the Americas


The Council on the Americas includes many important members from a wide range of industries. The Council is an international business organization that works to foster free trade, democracy, dialogue, and development throughout the Western hemisphere.
