El 5 de junio, la subsecretaria de Turismo de Chile, Jacqueline Plass, fue la oradora invitada a la junta anual de socios de AmCham. La funcionaria de gobierno se refirió a las actuales tendencias y desafíos del turismo en Chile, y destacó la importancia de atraer “mejores turistas” que estén dispuestos a gastar más.

También estuvieron presentes los ex presidentes de AmCham Ricardo García y Javier Irarrázaval, el ex ministro de Energía Rodrigo Álvarez y los directores de la Cámara Felipe Cerón y Karen Poniachik.

Durante la reunión, la presidenta de AmCham, Kathleen Barclay, analizó los puntos destacados de la Cámara el año pasado y su nueva estructura organizacional para 2013. Barclay destacó los esfuerzos de AmCham para apoyar los Acuerdos Chile-Massachusetts y Chile-California además del trabajo del Consejo Chile-Estados Unidos sobre Energía para promover la cooperación en el desarrollo de energías limpias.

"Durante este año vamos a seguir con nuestro Consejo de Energía [ya que], como todos sabemos, la energía es probablemente junto con el agua, uno de los temas más importantes para la competitividad de nuestras industrias en el largo plazo”, dijo Barclay.

Finalmente, la tesorera de AmCham, Sandra Guazzotti, entregó los estados financieros de la Cámara para el año 2012, los que fueron aprobados por los socios.

On June 5, Chile’s Undersecretary of Tourism, Jacqueline Plass, was the guest speaker at AmCham’s Annual General Meeting. She spoke about the current trends and challenges for tourism in Chile and highlighted the importance of attracting “better tourists” who are willing to spend more.

Other guests present included former AmCham Presidents Ricardo García and Javier Irarrázaval, former Energy Minister Rodrigo Álvarez and AmCham Directors Felipe Cerón and Karen Poniachik.

During the meeting, AmCham President Kathleen Barclay discussed the Chamber’s highlights of the past year and its new organizational structure for 2013. She highlighted AmCham’s efforts to support the Chile-Massachusetts and Chile-California agreements, as well as the work of the Chile-US Energy Business Council to promote cooperation in clean energy development.

"This year we will continue to support the Energy Council since, as we all know, energy along the water is probably one of the most important issues for the competitiveness of our industries in the long run," said Barclay.

Finally, AmCham Treasurer Sandra Guazzotti reviewed the Chamber’s financial results, which were approved by the members.
