La Fundación Minera Escondida, en alianza con el Programa Inglés Abre Puertas del Ministerio de Educación, auspició el primer English Winter Camps en julio para alumnos que tienen un promedio de notas igual o superior a 5,5 (de un total de 7) en inglés y lenguaje. Los campamentos mezclan entretención con aprendizaje a través de actividades que incluyen deportes, proyectos grupales, actividades interactivas, visitas a terreno y juegos dirigidos por voluntarios angloparlantes.

Los estudiantes armaron un blog sobre su experiencia, el que estará disponible en www.centrodevoluntarios.cl y www.fme.cl.

Petri Salopera, director ejecutivo de la fundación, destacó la importancia de este tipo de actividades y la motivación que existe en los estudiantes. “Los jóvenes que participan de los English Winter Camps también están haciendo un esfuerzo en usar su tiempo libre, como son sus vacaciones, en aprender y reforzar sus conocimientos de inglés, sin duda tendrán su recompensa”, aseveró.

The Fundación Minera Escondida, in partnership with the Education Ministry’s English Opens Doors program, sponsored free English Winter Camps in July for students who scored 5.5 or higher (out of 7) in language classes. The camps mix fun with learning through activities including sports, plays, group projects, field visits and games led by English-speaking volunteers.

The students put together a Blog about their experience which will be made available at www.centrodevoluntarios.cl and www.fme.cl.

Petri Salopera, Executive Director of FME, highlighted the importance of the camps to motivate students. “The kids that take part in the Winter Camps are using their own free time to learn and strengthen their knowledge of English, which will certainly be rewarded in the future,” she said.
