Con la presencia de la presidenta Michelle Bachelet, Anglo American recibió el premio “Sociedad Nacional de Minería 2014” en la categoría Grandes Productores, por la exitosa consolidación lograda por el Proyecto Desarrollo Los Bronces.

La operación Los Bronces comenzó en 2012 con la primera etapa de la puesta en marcha de su proyecto de expansión, y alcanzó en 2013 la producción a capacidad de diseño, logrando un importante incremento al alcanzar una producción de 416.300 toneladas de cobre fino. En tanto, durante el primer semestre de 2014, la operación ya ha visto aumentada su producción comparada con igual período de 2013, alcanzando 221.600 toneladas de cobre fino, un 11% más que el año anterior.

El CEO Cobre de Anglo American, Hennie Faul, señaló que “cuando en Anglo American conceptualizamos el Proyecto Desarrollo Los Bronces, lo hicimos con el fin de convertir a esta operación en la quinta mina de cobre más grande del mundo. Por ahora los resultados nos tienen muy contentos y optimistas con el futuro de la operación”.

With President Michelle Bachelet in attendance, Anglo American has received the “2014 National Mining” award in the Large Producer category, as a result of its successful consolidation of the Los Bronces Development Project.

The Los Bronces operation began in 2012 with the implementation of the first stage of the expansion project. Production at design capacity was reached in 2013, which marked an important step towards hitting the total annual output target of 416,300 tons of fine copper.
Overall production rose by 11% during the first half of 2014 compared to the same period last year, with total output measuring 221,600 tons of fine copper.

The CEO of Copper at Anglo American, Hennie Faul, said “when we conceptualized the Los Bronces Development Project at Anglo American, our goal was for the operation to become the fifth biggest copper mine in the world. Until now, we are extremely pleased with the results and very optimistic about the future of the operation”.
