El 16 de octubre, Roberto Ampuero -ministro presidente del Consejo Nacional de la Cultura y las Artes de Chile- fue invitado a un almuerzo de AmCham cuyo propósito era discutir la importancia del apoyo del mundo empresarial a las artes como un medio para promover el desarrollo de Chile.

Al almuerzo asistieron la presidenta de AmCham, Kathleen Barclay, y el gerente general de la Cámara, Roberto Matus. Además del ministro Ampuero, el evento contó con la participación de Borja Baselga, director de la Fundación Santander; Robert Lynch, presidente y CEO de Americans for the Arts; Rupert Myer, presidente de Australia Council for the Arts; y Juan Carlos Silva, coordinador legislativo del gabinete del Ministerio de Cultura.

El almuerzo precedió el IV Seminario de Cultura y Economía, que se realizó el 17 de octubre en el Centro Gabriela Mistral (GAM). Titulado “Hacia una Cultura Sustentable: Estado, Donaciones y Responsabilidad Empresarial” y auspiciado por AmCham entre otras organizaciones, el seminario fue un espacio de reflexión sobre el financiamiento de las artes, los nuevos incentivos tributarios y el impacto que tiene el ámbito cultural en el desarrollo.

On October 16, Roberto Ampuero, Minister of the National Council for Culture and the Arts, spoke at an AmCham lunch about the importance of corporate donations for the arts as a means to promote Chile’s development.

AmCham President Kathleen Barclay and General Manager Roberto Matus attended the lunch. Other guests included Borja Baselga, director of Fundación Santander, Robert Lynch, president of the organization Americans for the Arts; Rupert Myer, chair of the Australia Council for the Arts, and Juan Carlos Silva, legal advisor at Chile’s Culture Ministry.

The lunch preceded the 4th Seminar on Culture and Economy, which was held at the Centro Gabriela Mistral (GAM) on October 17. Titled "Towards a Sustainable Culture" and sponsored by AmCham amongst other organizations, this was a space for reflection about financing for the arts, new tax incentives and the impact of culture on development.
