La Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile venció a la Universidad de Chile en la final del Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition (Jessup), torneo internacional en el cual estudiantes de derecho defienden en inglés un caso hipotético de derecho internacional ante un tribunal que recrea la Corte Internacional de Justicia. Como ganadores, los alumnos Elisa Zavala, Trinidad Cruz, Josefina Movillo, Guillermo Del Campo y Benjamín Salas representarán a Chile en la gran final de la competencia internacional en la ciudad de Washington D.C. en abril próximo. En el evento participan alrededor de 600 equipos de más de 90 países, lo que convierte a Jessup en uno de los concursos de alegatos más grandes e importantes del mundo.

Jessup es organizado en Estados Unidos por la International Law Students Association (ILSA) y en nuestro país por la Cámara Chileno Norteamericana de Comercio, AmCham Chile. El jurado de la final de la competencia estuvo integrado por los abogados Felipe Bulnes, Marcos Ríos, Rose Cave, Felipe Hoetz y el actual decano de la Washington College of Law (WCL) de la American University, Claudio Grossman, quien además dictó la conferencia “El rol de los abogados y de las Escuelas de Derecho en el siglo XXI”.

The Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile has defeated the Universidad de Chile in the final of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition (Jessup). Jessup is an international tournament in which law students defend, in English, a hypothetical international legal case in a mock court, recreating the International Court of Justice.

The winning team, made up of students Elisa Zavala, Trinidad Cruz, Josefina Movillo, Guillermo Del Campo and Benjamín Salas will represent Chile in the grand final of the competition in Washington DC in April. This event draws around 600 teams from more than 90 countries, making Jessup one of the biggest and most important debating contests in the world.

Jessup is organized in the United States by the International Law Students Association (ILSA) and in Chile by the Chilean American Chamber of Commerce, AmCham Chile. The judging panel for the final was composed of lawyers Felipe Bulnes, Marcos Ríos, Rose Cave, Felipe Hoetz and the current Dean of American University Washington College of Law (WCL), Claudio Grossman, who also delivered the lecture, "The role of lawyers and law schools in the 21st century".
