El 6 de mayo, Komatsu Cummins suscribió un acuerdo con la Agencia de Cooperación Internacional de Chile (AGCI) y la Fundación América Solidaria para reconstruir la escuela República de Chile (École République du Chili) en Haití, la que fue destruida por el terremoto que azotó al país el 12 de enero del 2010.

El presidente Sebastián Piñera anunció el proyecto en abril durante la V Cumbre de Jefes de Estado y de Gobierno de la Asociación de Estados del Caribe. Cerca de 600 niñas asisten a la escuela, que está situada en el corazón de Puerto Príncipe. La Escuela de Construcción Civil de la Pontificia Universidad Católica supervisará las obras.

"Estamos contentos de trabajar en conjunto con América Solidaria y la Agencia de Cooperación Internacional del Gobierno de Chile, y hacer que la solidaridad traspase nuestras fronteras y llegue a quienes más lo necesiten. Queremos invitar a más empresas para que se sumen a este desafío”, aseveró Jeffrey Dawes, presidente del directorio de Komatsu Cummins.

On May 6, Komatsu Cummins signed an agreement with the Chilean International Cooperation Agency (AGCI) and Fundación América Solidaria to rebuild the Republic of Chile School (École République du Chili) in Haiti that was destroyed by the earthquake that struck the country on January 12, 2010.

President Piñera announced the project during the 5th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Association of Caribbean States in April. Around 600 girls attend the school, which is located in the heart of Port-au-Prince. The Universidad Católica’s School of Civil Construction will supervise the work.

"We are pleased to work with América Solidaria and the Chilean International Cooperation Agency to reach across borders and help those most in need. We want to invite more companies to join this challenge,” said Jeffrey Dawes, chairman of Komatsu Cummins.
