[:es]El doctor Harvey Lodish, químico matemático y PhD. en genética, además de profesor de ingeniería biológica del MIT, visitó el Centro de Excelencia en Medicina de Precisión (CEMP) de Pfizer Chile, donde fue recibido por su equipo de profesionales, quienes tuvieron el privilegio de explicarle y discutir sobre las líneas de investigación que están desarrollando. A través de una interesante conversación, el profesor Lodish, quien también es miembro fundador del Whitehead Institute en Estados Unidos, se mostró gratamente sorprendido con la oportunidad que tienen algunos de los investigadores del CEMP de poder realizar su tesis de doctorado en el centro de excelencia. Al mismo tiempo, destacó lo relevante de la investigación genómica que se desarrolla en esta institución y el que la base de datos con información genética que se está construyendo sea pública, lo cual es un aporte muy valioso para la ciencia mundial. El doctor Lodish también compartió información sobre sus investigaciones y su experiencia como emprendedor.

La visita al CEMP fue parte de la agenda del dr. Lodish en el marco de la Conferencia Internacional de Innovación y Biotecnología: Conectándose con el Mundo que organizó AmCham Chile e Imagen de Chile.[:en]The doctor Harvey Lodish, who has degrees in mathematics and chemistry, a PhD in genetics and is also Professor of Biology and Biomedical Engineering at MIT, has visited Pfizer Chile’s Center of Excellence in Precision Medicine (CEMP). During his trip, he met with the Center’s team of professionals who had the honor of explaining and discussing the lines of research being undertaken at the facility. Following an interesting conversation, Professor Lodish, who is also a founding member of the Whitehead Institute in the US, was pleasantly surprised by the fact that certain CEMP researchers are able to do their doctoral theses at the Center. At the same time, he emphasized the importance of the genome research that is being conducted at CEMP and stressed that the database with genetic information being built should be made public, given its value to the scientific community. Dr Lodish also shared information about his research and general experience as an entrepreneur.

His visit to CEMP formed part of Dr Lodish’s schedule in relation to the International Innovation and Biotechnology Conference: Connecting with the World, which was organized by AmCham Chile and Imagen de Chile.[:]
