En el encuentro \u00bfHacia D\u00f3nde va el Sistema de Pensiones Chileno? se reflexion\u00f3 en torno a la tasa de cotizaci\u00f3n, la importancia de evitar lagunas previsionales y la necesidad de estimular nuevos mecanismos de ahorro en la ciudadan\u00eda.<\/p>\n<p>El Doctor en Econom\u00eda de la Universidad de Chicago y profesor asociado de la Universidad de Maryland, Sergio Urz\u00faa, destac\u00f3 que el aumento en la cotizaci\u00f3n obligatoria debe ir de forma \u00edntegra a las cuentas de los afiliados en las AFP, as\u00ed como que se debe poner atenci\u00f3n a c\u00f3mo se estructuran los beneficios del pilar solidario o su incremento, en relaci\u00f3n a los desincentivos a la cotizaci\u00f3n que pueda provocar. Desde otra posici\u00f3n, el Doctor en Econom\u00eda de la Universidad de California, Andras Uthoff, plante\u00f3 la necesidad de incorporar solidaridad de la mano de incentivos a cotizar con la creaci\u00f3n de un pilar colectivo de ahorro para los ingresos por debajo de $ 400 mil mensuales.<\/p>\n<p>En tanto, el acad\u00e9mico de Universidad de California, Sebasti\u00e1n Edwards, destac\u00f3 que todav\u00eda es necesario retomar ideas que han ido quedando fuera del debate previsional, entre ellas, la reducci\u00f3n de los multifondos de cinco a s\u00f3lo tres y que uno de ellos sea de baja administraci\u00f3n y, por ende, de menor costo.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-149513 \" src=\"http:\/\/amchamchile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/2222-1024x683.jpg\" width=\"660\" height=\"440\" \/>[:en]Economists Sergio Urz\u00faa, Andras Uthoff and Sebasti\u00e1n Edwards have discussed the scope and challenges of a possible reform to the Chilean pension system in an event organized by AmCham Chile, in which the opening remarks of the meeting were provided by the Undersecretary of Finance, Alejandro Micco. Entitled \u2018Where is the Chilean Pension System Heading?\u2019, the event touched on issues including the contribution rate, the importance of avoiding pension gaps and the need to stimulate new savings mechanisms among the general public.<\/p>\n<p>Sergio Urz\u00faa, who has a PhD in economics from the University of Chicago and is Associate Professor at the University of Maryland, stressed that the proposed increase in compulsory contributions must be comprehensively incorporated into AFP accounts. He also highlighted as essential that the benefits of the solidarity pillar, or the increase thereof, must be adequately structured in relation to the disincentives that it may cause in terms of contribution levels.
