[:es]El Dr. Harvey F. Lodish, qu\u00edmico matem\u00e1tico y PhD en gen\u00e9tica, adem\u00e1s de profesor de Ingenier\u00eda Biol\u00f3gica del MIT, visit\u00f3 el Centro de Excelencia en Medicina de Precisi\u00f3n (CEMP) de Pfizer Chile donde fue recibido por su equipo de profesionales, quienes tuvieron el privilegio de explicarle y discutir sobre las l\u00edneas de investigaci\u00f3n que est\u00e1n desarrollando.<\/p>\n
A trav\u00e9s de una interesante conversaci\u00f3n, el profesor Lodish quien tambi\u00e9n es miembro fundador del Whitehead Institute en Estados Unidos, se mostr\u00f3 gratamente sorprendido con la oportunidad que tienen algunos de los investigadores del CEMP de poder realizar su tesis de doctorado en el centro de excelencia. Al mismo tiempo, destac\u00f3 lo relevante de la investigaci\u00f3n gen\u00f3mica que se desarrolla en el Centro y el que \u00a0la base de datos con informaci\u00f3n gen\u00e9tica que se est\u00e1 construyendo sea p\u00fablica, lo cual \u00a0es un aporte muy valioso para la ciencia mundial.<\/p>\n
El Dr. Lodish tambi\u00e9n comparti\u00f3 informaci\u00f3n sobre sus investigaciones, su faceta de emprendedor, sus motivaciones y vida personal, lo que fue muy enriquecedor para los asistentes. Cabe se\u00f1alar que este destacado cient\u00edfico ha sido mentor de m\u00e1s de 175 estudiantes de doctorado y postdoctorados, dos de los cuales han recibido el Premio Nobel y Lasker, adem\u00e1s de ser fundador y miembro del consejo asesor cient\u00edfico de Genzyme, Arris Pharmaceuticals, Millennium Pharmaceuticals y Rubius Therapeutics.<\/p>\n
La visita del profesor Lodish al CEMP fue parte de las actividades relacionadas con la Conferencia Internacional de Innovaci\u00f3n y Biotecnolog\u00eda que organiz\u00f3 Imagen de Chile y la C\u00e1mara Norteamericana de Comercio (AmCham Chile) con el apoyo de Corfo, para profundizar en experiencias de destacados investigadores internacionales y chilenos que han conseguido desarrollos exitosos en Estados Unidos.[:en]Dr. Harvey F. Lodish, mathematical chemist and PhD in genetics, as well as Professor of Biological Engineering at MIT, visited the Center of Excellence in Precision Medicine (CEMP) of Pfizer Chile and its team of professionals, who had the privilege to explain and discuss with him the research projects they are developing.<\/p>\n
Through an interesting conversation, Prof. Lodish who is also founding Member of Whitehead Institute, was amusingly surprised by the possibility of some of the CEMP researchers to be able to do their PhD thesis work at the center of excellence. Also, he emphasized the relevant of the accessibility to the genetic database that is being built at the CEMP, because is a high contribution to the scientific world.<\/p>\n
Dr. Lodish also shared information about his research, entrepreneurial facet, motivations and personal life, which was very inspiring for the attendees. Is important to notice that this outstanding scientist has mentored over 175 doctoral and postdoctoral students, two of whom have received the Nobel Prize and the Lasker Prize, as well as being founder and member of the Genzyme scientific advisory board, Arris Pharmaceuticals, Millennium Pharmaceuticals and Rubius Therapeutics.<\/p>\n
