[:es]Con el objetivo de analizar los principales retos econ\u00f3micos del pa\u00eds y la relaci\u00f3n con Estados Unidos, Amcham Chile organiz\u00f3 un encuentro entre la Presidenta Michelle Bachelet y el Ministro de Hacienda, Rodrigo Vald\u00e9s, \u00a0adem\u00e1s de representantes del sector p\u00fablico y privado del pa\u00eds.<\/em><\/p>\n

Chile en el mundo: Desaf\u00edos de crecimiento e integraci\u00f3n en un contexto globalizado fue el\u00a0 desayuno organizado por la C\u00e1mara Chilena Norteamericana de Comercio, AmCham Chile, instancia que reuni\u00f3 a sus socios, la Presidenta de la Rep\u00fablica, Michelle Bachelet y el Ministro de Hacienda, Rodrigo Vald\u00e9s, con el fin de analizar los desaf\u00edos actuales y los que se avecinan en materia econ\u00f3mica.<\/p>\n

La jornada estuvo marcada por un reconocimiento y diagn\u00f3stico de la situaci\u00f3n econ\u00f3mica del pa\u00eds, que seg\u00fan mencion\u00f3 la Presidenta y el Ministro Vald\u00e9s, comienza a mostrar leves signos de recuperaci\u00f3n, el apoyo un\u00e1nime al Acuerdo Transpac\u00edfico de Asociaci\u00f3n Econ\u00f3mica la instancia (TPP) y la importancia de mantener las buenas relaciones con Estados Unidos.<\/p>\n

En esta l\u00ednea, la presidenta de AmCham Chile, Kathleen Barclay, destac\u00f3 la importancia de la relaci\u00f3n bilateral entre Chile y Estados Unidos, catalogada como estrat\u00e9gica y con un trato entre iguales por el Presidente Barack Obama. Relaci\u00f3n que, aclar\u00f3, incluye varios sectores como cultura, defensa, energ\u00eda, ciencias y econom\u00eda.<\/p>\n

Agreg\u00f3 que el impulso a la internacionalizaci\u00f3n de las empresas chilenas es primordial para el desarrollo de Chile y enfatiz\u00f3 en el compromiso de la C\u00e1mara ante el desarrollo de tratados -Acuerdo Transpac\u00edfico de Asociaci\u00f3n Econ\u00f3mica (TPP) y la Alianza del Pac\u00edfico- y a contribuir con aportes concretos en Chile a los diferentes procesos de reformas, como la tributaria, laboral e incluso el nuevo r\u00e9gimen de inversi\u00f3n extranjera.<\/p>\n

La ejecutiva tambi\u00e9n agradeci\u00f3 a los presentes los espacios de di\u00e1logo, que han permitido plantear tem\u00e1ticas como el fortalecimiento del flujo del comercio y la inversi\u00f3n extranjera entre Chile y EE.UU. Ejemplo concreto de ello, dijo Barclay, fue el impulso a la aprobaci\u00f3n legislativa del acuerdo que evita la doble tributaci\u00f3n con Estados Unidos.<\/p>\n

Visi\u00f3n estatal<\/strong><\/p>\n

Por su parte, la Presidenta Michelle Bachelet asegur\u00f3 que la preocupaci\u00f3n del gobierno por la ralentizaci\u00f3n de la econom\u00eda global es un hecho, record\u00f3 que Chile sigue siendo la econom\u00eda m\u00e1s competitiva de Am\u00e9rica Latina y que si bien las instituciones pol\u00edticas y econ\u00f3micas no han perdido solidez, s\u00ed hay un consenso en la necesidad de fortalecerlas.<\/p>\n

Agreg\u00f3 que el pa\u00eds cuenta con estabilidad financiera y un marco macroecon\u00f3mico responsable que otorga estabilidad y competitividad, pilares -dijo- que son propios de un ambiente propicio para la inversi\u00f3n, el crecimiento y el intercambio comercial.<\/p>\n

La mandataria tambi\u00e9n destac\u00f3 las relaciones comerciales entre Chile y EE.UU. y reafirm\u00f3 su respaldo al TPP, ya que seg\u00fan consign\u00f3 en su discurso \u201ccontempla un balance adecuado que le otorgar\u00e1 beneficios al pa\u00eds y asegura una protecci\u00f3n apropiada de las sensibilidades de Chile en el proceso\u201d.<\/p>\n

En tanto, el Ministro de Hacienda, Rodrigo Vald\u00e9s, afirm\u00f3 que el Gobierno trabaja en nuevas medidas para impulsar la productividad e invit\u00f3 a todos los actores a formular propuestas en esa direcci\u00f3n. Explic\u00f3 que pese a que la desaceleraci\u00f3n econ\u00f3mica se mantiene, el crecimiento ha comenzado a estabilizarse, entregando mayor dinamismo, que va en torno a 2,5%.<\/p>\n

Vald\u00e9s hizo hincapi\u00e9 en que, pese a la fuerte ca\u00edda de la inversi\u00f3n de los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os, se ha visto una leve recuperaci\u00f3n. Destac\u00f3 que en los primeros meses de 2016 el crecimiento fue cercano a 2% y que la estabilidad en las tasas de inter\u00e9s, en un escenario de depreciaci\u00f3n monetaria y en per\u00edodos de volatilidad, son se\u00f1ales de mayor fortaleza.<\/p>\n

Enfatiz\u00f3 que la confianza empresarial y de los consumidores se mantienen a la baja. \u201cNecesitamos recuperar mayores niveles de confianza para avanzar en crecimiento. Las expectativas de las empresas muestran algo de recuperaci\u00f3n, pero tenemos que seguir trabajando\u201d, coment\u00f3 la autoridad.<\/p>\n

Para finalizar el encuentro, el Ministro de Hacienda convers\u00f3 con la presidenta de AmCham Chile y abordaron tem\u00e1ticas como el Presupuesto 2017 y los cambios al Sistema Previsional. Finalmente, el Ministro record\u00f3 a los socios de AmCham que pueden seguir aportando al desarrollo de Chile, a trav\u00e9s de la exportaci\u00f3n de servicios.<\/p>\n

Chile in the World: Challenges of Growth and Integration in a Global Context was the title of the breakfast meeting recently held by the Chilean American Chamber of Commerce, AmCham Chile. The event brought together Chamber members along with President Michelle Bachelet and Finance Minister Rodrigo Vald\u00e9s to discuss current challenges and issues related to the national economy.<\/p>\n

Participants addressed the economic situation and outlook in Chile, in which President Bachelet and Minister Vald\u00e9s noted the appearance of small signs of recovery. There was also unanimous support for the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) Agreement and the importance of maintaining good relations with the US.<\/p>\n

On this latter point, the President of AmCham Chile, Kathleen Barclay, highlighted the importance of the bilateral relationship between the two countries, which has been described as a strategic treaty between equals by US President Barack Obama. Barclay also described this relationship as one that encompasses a number of areas, including culture, defense, energy, the sciences and economics.<\/p>\n

She added that boosting the internationalization of Chilean companies is an essential component of national development, while also stressing the commitment of the Chamber towards the fulfillment of treaties, such as the TPP and Pacific Alliance. In addition, Barclay confirmed the Chamber\u2019s dedication to continue to provide concrete support in Chile to the different reform processes underway, such as those relating to tax, employment, and even the new foreign investment regime.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, she thanked those in attendance for the dialogue opportunities that have helped to provide spaces for the generation of thematic proposals, such as strengthening trade flows and foreign investment between Chile and the US. As a specific example of this, Barclay highlighted the drive for the legislative approval of the agreement that ends double taxation with the United States.<\/p>\n

Government outlook<\/strong><\/p>\n

Regarding the government, President Bachelet confirmed her administration\u2019s concern for the global economic slowdown, while recalling that Chile remains the most competitive economy in Latin America. She added that although public and economic institutions have not lost their strength, there is indeed a consensus on the need to make them more robust.<\/p>\n

She said that the country continues to maintain financial stability and has the macroeconomic responsibility required to guarantee solidity and competitiveness. These latter two pillars, she noted, are key parts of an environment that is conducive to investment, growth and commercial exchange.<\/p>\n

President Bachelet also highlighted trade relations between Chile and the US, reaffirming her support for the TPP, which she stated as constituting, \u201can appropriate balance that will provide benefits to the country and ensure the necessary protection of Chilean interests in the process\u201d.<\/p>\n

Minister Vald\u00e9s announced that the government is working on new measures to boost productivity and invited all actors to devise proposals to this end. He explained that, despite the ongoing economic slowdown, growth has begun to stabilize at around 2.5%, therefore delivering greater dynamism to the economy.<\/p>\n

Minister Vald\u00e9s emphasized that, despite the sharp drop in investment in recent years, there has now been a slight recovery. He pointed out that growth of almost 2% in the first few months of 2016, in conjunction with interest rate stability during a time of currency depreciation and periods of volatility, are signs of greater robustness.<\/p>\n

He stressed that business and consumer confidence remains low, adding that, \u201cwe need to return to higher levels of confidence in order to boost growth. Businesses are expecting some kind of recovery, but we have to keep working towards that end\u201d.<\/p>\n

To conclude the meeting, Minister Vald\u00e9s and the President of AmCham Chile exchanged views on a number of topics, including the 2017 budget and the changes to the pension system. Finally, the minister called for the members of the Chamber to continue to support Chilean development, particularly by means of exporting services.<\/p>\n
