La C\u00e1mara Chileno Norteamericana de Comercio, AmCham Chile, est\u00e1 interesada en aquellos temas-pa\u00eds que inciden en el cumplimiento de su misi\u00f3n, es decir, en el comercio e inversiones entre Chile y Estados Unidos. Por ello, varios de los t\u00f3picos abordados en esta revista est\u00e1n siendo tratados en los diferentes comit\u00e9s que re\u00fanen a los socios de esta organizaci\u00f3n. Asimismo, se han estado realizando reuniones y mesas redondas con autoridades y l\u00edderes de opini\u00f3n para intercambiar opiniones respecto de temas de actualidad. Entre los recientes invitados estuvieron la Ministra del Trabajo, Ximena Rinc\u00f3n; el Ministro de Energ\u00eda, M\u00e1ximo Pacheco; el Subsecretario de Hacienda, Alejandro Micco; el Arzobispo de Santiago, cardenal Ricardo Ezzati; el ex secretario general de la Organizaci\u00f3n de los Estados Americanos (OEA), Jos\u00e9 Miguel Insulza; y el experto estadounidense en sistemas de pensiones, Richard Jackson.<\/p>\n
En este sentido, AmCham busca ser un puente entre los sectores p\u00fablico y privado, generando espacios de di\u00e1logo e intercambio de ideas entre ambos. En este marco, la C\u00e1mara ha trabajado por promover la aprobaci\u00f3n del Acuerdo para Evitar la Doble Tributaci\u00f3n entre Chile y Estados Unidos que fue firmado a comienzos de 2010 por ambos pa\u00edses y que este mes de septiembre termin\u00f3 su tramitaci\u00f3n en el parlamento chileno, con la aprobaci\u00f3n del Senado. Este tema fue abordado con profundidad en el n\u00famero anterior de esta revista, explicando sus alcances.<\/p>\n
Sin embargo, a\u00fan debe ser ratificado por el Congreso estadounidense, por lo que AmCham continuar\u00e1 su trabajo de informaci\u00f3n en torno a este convenio en ese pa\u00eds para que finalmente pueda entrar en vigencia. Ello porque complementar\u00e1 el Tratado de Libre Comercio entre ambas naciones, el cual desde enero de este a\u00f1o tiene el comercio entre ambos pa\u00edses libre de todo arancel. De esta manera, con el inicio de la aplicaci\u00f3n del nuevo convenio que aborda el tema impositivo se seguir\u00e1 incentivando la actividad econ\u00f3mica bilateral, apoyando el desarrollo de ambas naciones y el bienestar de sus ciudadanos.In the recent past, Chile has been praised by international observers for its disciplined and prudent fiscal management. The Chilean-American Chamber of Commerce, AmCham Chile, is interested in national issues which relate to the fulfilment of our mission, for example trade and investment between Chile and the United States. Accordingly, a number of topics covered in this magazine are currently being addressed by the different committees which unite the different members of the Chamber. Likewise, meetings and round tables have been held with authorities and experts to foster the exchange of opinions concerning current events. Recent guests have included the Minster of Labor, Ximena Rinc\u00f3n; the Minister of Energy, M\u00e1ximo Pacheco; the Undersecretary of Finance, Alejandro Micco; the Archbishop of Santiago, Cardinal Ricardo Ezzati; the former Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Jos\u00e9 Miguel Insulza; and the pension systems expert from the US, Richard Jackson.<\/p>\n
Through this approach, AmCham seeks to act as a bridge between the public and private sectors, generating spaces for dialogue and the exchange of ideas between the two. An example of this has been the work of the Chamber in promoting the approval of the Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement between Chile and the United States, which was signed in early 2010 by both countries. This month, September 2015, it completed its passage through the Chilean Congress with approval from the Senate. The scope of this issue was covered in depth in the previous edition of Business Chile.<\/p>\n
Nevertheless, the accord still requires ratification by the United States Congress. Consequently, AmCham Chile will continue to circulate information about this Agreement in the US in order to ensure it finally enters into force. Once ratified, it will complement the existing Free Trade Agreement between the two nations, which since January 2015 has meant trade between Chile and the US is free of all duties.
