El Consejo Minero (CM), como representante de la gran miner\u00eda, y el Ministerio de Energ\u00eda, firmaron un convenio de colaboraci\u00f3n orientado a impulsar un uso cada vez m\u00e1s eficiente de los recursos energ\u00e9ticos en las empresas que componen esta asociaci\u00f3n y a fomentar iniciativas que contribuyan a la innovaci\u00f3n y la cultura en el buen uso de la energ\u00eda, siguiendo las mejores pr\u00e1cticas internacionales en la materia.<\/p>\n

Este sector industrial es el primero en firmar un acuerdo de este tipo, anticipando la implementaci\u00f3n de las normas que se establecer\u00e1n, respecto de los grandes consumidores de energ\u00eda, en el proyecto de Ley de Eficiencia Energ\u00e9tica que se enviar\u00e1 al Congreso el primer semestre de 2015, en el marco de la Agenda de Energ\u00eda.<\/p>\n

Por su parte, Codelco, aunque integra el CM, firm\u00f3 un convenio directo con el Ministerio de Energ\u00eda sobre la misma materia, dada su condici\u00f3n de empresa p\u00fablica. Para el Ministro de Energ\u00eda, M\u00e1ximo Pacheco, esta iniciativa vienea concretar un largo trabajo que debe realizar el sector, en el marco de lo que ser\u00e1 la pr\u00f3xima Ley de Eficiencia Energ\u00e9tica: \u201cChile es un pa\u00eds minero, 15% del total de la demanda energ\u00e9tica del pa\u00eds, y 39% de la demanda el\u00e9ctrica, se originan en este sector. Es por eso que esfuerzos como \u00e9ste son fundamentales\u201d.<\/p>\n

The Mining Council (MC), the representative body of large-scale mining, and the Ministry of Energy have signed a collaborative agreement aimed at boosting an increasingly efficient use of energy among the constituent members of this business association. The agreement also sets out to strengthen initiatives contributing to innovation and a culture of the sensible use of energy, in line with relevant international best practices.<\/p>\n

This industrial sector is the first to sign an agreement of this type. By doing so, it is foreseeing the implementation of new regulations with regard to large consumers of energy. It comes in light of the Energy Efficiency Bill due to be presented to Congress in the first quarter of 2015, as part of the wider Energy Agenda. Codelco, although a member of the MC, has signed a direct agreement with the Ministry of Energy on the same issue, given its status as a public company.<\/p>\n

The Minister of Energy, M\u00e1ximo Pacheco, believes this initiative is a way of solidifying a lengthy period of work that needs to be carried out by the sector, within the framework of what will become the next Energy Efficiency Act: \u201cChile is a mining country, where 15% of its energy demand and 39% of its electricity demand stem from this sector. That is why initiatives such as these are so important\u201d.<\/p>\n
