Esta epidemia, que se ha duplicado en 13 a\u00f1os, genera un costo de alrededor de 4 mil millones de d\u00f3lares anuales [2] y alimenta las principales causas de mortalidad: diabetes, hipertensi\u00f3n y enfermedades cardiovasculares que colapsan nuestro sistema de salud. Sin embargo, Chile tambi\u00e9n lidera en otra \u00e1rea: por primera vez en Latinoam\u00e9rica, nuestro pa\u00eds ser\u00e1 sede del XVIII IFSO World Congress 2025, el congreso mundial m\u00e1s importante de cirug\u00eda bari\u00e1trica.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La tecnolog\u00eda est\u00e1 revolucionando el tratamiento de la obesidad en todos sus niveles. Desde aplicaciones m\u00f3viles que monitorizan h\u00e1bitos alimentarios hasta la cirug\u00eda bari\u00e1trica con tecnolog\u00eda de \u00faltima generaci\u00f3n que permite procedimientos menos invasivos con recuperaci\u00f3n m\u00e1s r\u00e1pida.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ser sede de este congreso posiciona a Chile como referente regional en la lucha contra la obesidad y reconoce nuestro desarrollo en cirug\u00eda bari\u00e1trica de vanguardia. El desaf\u00edo est\u00e1 planteado, las herramientas m\u00e1s avanzadas del mundo se mostrar\u00e1n en nuestro pa\u00eds.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Es momento de aprovechar esta oportunidad \u00fanica para liderar la revoluci\u00f3n m\u00e9dico-tecnol\u00f3gica latinoamericana en este tema urgente y hacer frente a esta epidemia que afecta a miles de chilenos y a su salud. Es momento tambi\u00e9n de hacer frente, desde el sistema de salud, a esta problem\u00e1tica y ofrecer soluciones permanentes a quienes la padecen.
