Para obtener la acreditaci\u00f3n, la Universidad Mayor se someti\u00f3 a un proceso que se extendi\u00f3 por cinco a\u00f1os, el que fue fiscalizado por la Middle States Commission on Higher Education , agencia dependiente del Gobierno de Estados Unidos que ha certificado a universidades como Princeton, Johns Hopkins, Cornell y Columbia.<\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: justify\">Esta certificaci\u00f3n permitir\u00e1 a los alumnos de la Universidad Mayor obtener t\u00edtulos de pregrado o posgrado en Estados Unidos. \u201cLas puertas de las universidades americanas se est\u00e1n abriendo a pasos agigantados&#8221;, se\u00f1al\u00f3 el rector de la universidad, Rub\u00e9n Covarrubias.<\/P><!--:--><!--:en--><P style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: justify\">After a long, rigorous process, the U.S. Department of Education has accredited Chile\u2019s Universidad Mayor, making it the first Chilean university to obtain this distinction.<\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: justify\">The news was announced in August at a ceremony in the residence of the Chilean Ambassador, Arturo Fermandois, in Washington DC.
