Columbia Global is pleased to announce the appointment of`Antonio Campa\u00f1a as director of the Global Center in Santiago, Chile.<\/strong><\/h5>\n

A seasoned leader of globally engaged institutions and a professor of economics for over 30 years at several Chilean universities, Campa\u00f1a joins Columbia Global from the Fulbright Commission in Chile<\/a> where he served as executive director for more than a decade. His tenure was marked by the creation of innovative programs for Chilean grantees, researchers, and scholars in the United States and the cultivation of strategic partnerships with Chilean and U.S. Government entities, universities, and private sector institutions.<\/p>\n

\u201cAntonio is a bridge-builder and will bring to the Santiago Center his deep experience in incorporating a range of cultural perspectives, ideas and concepts in diverse educational and research collaborations,\u201d said Wafaa El-Sadr, executive vice president for Columbia Global.<\/p>\n

His prior experience also includes senior roles at the\u00a0British Council<\/a>,\u00a0ABN AMRO (Chile) Bank<\/a>\u00a0and the U.N.\u2019s Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC<\/a>).<\/p>\n

He holds both an MA and a BS in Economics from Southern Illinois University and Southeast Missouri State University, respectively.<\/p>\n

About the Columbia Global Center in Santiago<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Santiago Center is one of 11 Global Centers Columbia established in cities around the world including Amman, Athens, Beijing, Istanbul, Mumbai, Nairobi, Paris, Rio, Tel Aviv and Tunis. Columbia University launched the Santiago Center in 2012 to engage faculty, students, and in-country partners on priority issues related to earth sciences, climate change, political science, global and public health, journalism, and education, among others.<\/p>\n

The Global Centers were created to generate opportunities for shared learning and dialogue. They serve as regional hubs for training, research, and collaboration, linking local experts and institutions to Columbia\u2019s academic and scientific resources and vice versa.
