La C\u00e1mara Chileno-Norteamericana de Comercio, AmCham, lamenta profundamente que el Gobierno de Estados Unidos no haya acogido la petici\u00f3n hecha por Chile para que, teniendo en vista las consecuencias que el terremoto tuvo en Chile, aplazara por 10 d\u00edas la entrada en vigencia del \u201cmarketing order\u201d, que afecta el ingreso de uva chilena al mercado de ese pa\u00eds.<\/P>

Comprendemos que Estados Unidos tiene normas y mecanismos legales que hay que respetar. Sin embargo, las circunstancias \u00fanicas y dram\u00e1ticas en Chile cuando se elev\u00f3 esta solicitud, ameritaban en nuestra opini\u00f3n, una acci\u00f3n m\u00e1s colaboradora y solidaria hacia un pa\u00eds socio y amigo cercano. Ello era muy esperable luego de las muestras de solidaridad del Presidente Obama, la secretaria de Estado Hillary Clinton durante su visita a Chile, de ambas c\u00e1maras del Congreso de Estados Unidos y de importantes empresas del sector privado de ese pa\u00eds.<\/P>

Su aprobaci\u00f3n hubiese posibilitado que la demostraci\u00f3n de enorme solidaridad que el pueblo, empresarios y Gobierno de Estados Unidos han tenido para con las v\u00edctimas, se hubiese materializado en una ayuda concreta a un sector que requiere mucha mano de obra y tiene un alto impacto para Chile.<\/P>

Considering the tragic consequences of the earthquake, AmCham is disappointed that the U.S. government rejected a request by Chile to delay the date when U.S. marketing orders for grapes took effect (April 10). The marketing orders are designed to protect California\u2019s early table grape deal from competitors like Chile.<\/P>
\n
After the earthquake, large shipments of grapes and other fruit had to be stored while authorities worked to get port facilities operating again. We understand the United States has norms and laws that must be respected but Chile\u2019s tragic circumstances, in our opinion, warrant a more cooperative and supportive approach from one of Chile\u2019s closest friends and trading partners. The expressions of support received from President Obama, Congress and Secretary of State Hilary Clinton, who visited Chile after the earthquake, created the expectation that the U.S. government would adopt such an approach.<\/P>

The approval of Chile\u2019s request in its time of need would have shown that the huge outpouring of solidarity shown by the U.S. translated into concrete action in a sector that is important for Chile\u2019s economic recovery.<\/P><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
