Estos son los temas que se tratar\u00e1n a fines de este mes en un seminario anual sobre el panorama econ\u00f3mico que la AmCham llevar\u00e1 a cabo de manera conjunta con la C\u00e1mara de Comercio de Estados Unidos y el diario El Mercurio.<\/p>\n
Mientras el mundo enfrenta la mayor desaceleraci\u00f3n de los \u00faltimos cincuenta a\u00f1os, los pa\u00edses del hemisferio est\u00e1n enfrentando desaf\u00edos fiscales y crecientes niveles de desempleo que, en muchos casos, han ejercido severas presiones sobre Gobiernos elegidos de manera democr\u00e1tica. A medida que los l\u00edderes analizan el futuro, hay significativas preocupaciones relacionadas con el riesgo de mayores niveles de inflaci\u00f3n as\u00ed como con el fantasma del proteccionismo, un factor clave para una econom\u00eda exportadora como Chile.<\/p>\n
Al mismo tiempo, se requiere una significativa reforma reguladora del sector financiero y mayores niveles de cooperaci\u00f3n mundial sobre este tema, precisamente en un momento en que los l\u00edderes regionales y mundiales necesitan concentrarse en temas internos. \u00bfPrestar atenci\u00f3n a la necesidad inmediata de generar crecimiento eclipsar\u00e1 la necesidad de un cambio estructural m\u00e1s profundo?<\/p>\n
En resumen, el mundo est\u00e1 enfrentado uno de los mayores desaf\u00edos econ\u00f3micos en d\u00e9cadas.<\/p>\n
El camino a futuro para Chile, el hemisferio y el mundo no est\u00e1 claro. Sin embargo, como l\u00edderes de negocios, debemos escuchar y analizar con el fin de tomar decisiones lo m\u00e1s informadas posible. El correcto equilibrio entre la comprensi\u00f3n y el optimismo es clave para tomar las decisiones estrat\u00e9gicas correctas. Estas decisiones, a su vez, determinar\u00e1n cu\u00e1n exitosa ser\u00e1 la recuperaci\u00f3n y qu\u00e9 forma adoptar\u00e1: V, L, U o W. Cu\u00e1n bien lidien los l\u00edderes mundiales con temas estructurales subyacentes m\u00e1s complejos determinar\u00e1 la sustentabilidad de la recuperaci\u00f3n en el tiempo.<\/p>\n
AmCham reunir\u00e1 a l\u00edderes internacionales con distintas \u00f3pticas sobre el camino a futuro. El ministro Andr\u00e9s Velasco entregar\u00e1 una perspectiva sobre la econom\u00eda chilena, incluida la s\u00f3lida gesti\u00f3n macroecon\u00f3mica y el entorno regulador del pa\u00eds. \u00bfSer\u00e1n suficientes?\u00bfProporcionar\u00e1n una base para un s\u00f3lido crecimiento econ\u00f3mico? \u00bfCu\u00e1les son los factores de riesgo claves?<\/p>\n

These are the issues that will be addressed later this month at AmCham\u2019s annual economic projections seminar that is being held in partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the El Mercurio newspaper.<\/p>\n
As the world faces the sharpest downturn in the last fifty years, countries in the hemisphere are facing fiscal challenges and rising levels of unemployment that, in many cases, have put severe pressures on democratically-elected governments. As leaders look into the future, there are significant concerns regarding the risk of increased levels of inflation as well as the specter of protectionism, a critical factor for an export-led economy such as Chile.<\/p>\n
At the same time, there is a need for significant regulatory reform of the financial sector and increased levels of global cooperation on this subject – precisely at a time when regional and global leaders need to focus on domestic affairs. Will a focus on the immediate need to generate growth overshadow a need for deeper structural change?<\/p>\n
In summary, the world is facing one of its greatest economic challenges in decades.<\/p>\n
The path forward for Chile, the hemisphere and the world is unclear. However, as business leaders, we must listen and analyze in order to make the most informed decisions possible. The right balance of understanding and optimism is key to making the correct strategic decisions going forward. These decisions, in turn, will determine how successful the recovery will be and what shape it will take – V, L, U or W. How well global leaders deal with the more complex underlying structural issues will determine the sustainability of recovery over time.<\/p>\n
AmCham will bring together international leaders with distinct optics on the path ahead. Minister Andr\u00e9s Velasco will provide insight into the Chilean economy, including the country\u2019s sound macroeconomic management and regulatory environment. Will they be enough? Will they provide a base for strong economic growth? What are the critical risk factors?<\/p>\n
The Americas editor of The Economist, Michael Reid, will be able to provide insight on the prospects for the rest of the hemisphere, including the political and social requirements for the recovery to be sustainable.<\/p>\n
