Las organizaciones ben\u00e9ficas y sin fines de lucro a nivel global que se dedican a la investigaci\u00f3n y el desarrollo de oportunidades para descarbonizar los sectores clave de la econom\u00eda tienen hasta el mi\u00e9rcoles 31 de mayo de 2023 para enviar sus propuestas y solicitar financiamiento.<\/p>\n<p>Creado en 2021 como parte de los <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scotiabank.com\/corporate\/es\/principal\/responsabilidad-e-impacto\/compromisos-climaticos.html\">Compromisos Clim\u00e1ticos<\/a> del banco de origen canadiense, el Net-Zero Research Fund de Scotiabank que busca entregar recursos \u00a0financiamiento por un total de CAD $10 millones en un plazo total de 10 a\u00f1os, establecer alianzas con destacados centros de estudios e instituciones acad\u00e9micas y otorgar financiamiento para apoyar investigaciones que promuevan la descarbonizaci\u00f3n global.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEl cambio clim\u00e1tico sigue siendo una gran prioridad para Scotiabank y estamos contribuyendo al desarrollo de opciones sostenibles que faciliten el avance hacia una econom\u00eda con bajas emisiones de carbono\u201d, declar\u00f3 Meigan Terry, Vicepresidenta S\u00e9nior y Directora General de Impacto Social, Sostenibilidad y Comunicaciones de Scotiabank.<\/p>\n<p>Desde su creaci\u00f3n, el Net-Zero Research Fund ha respaldado a 21 organizaciones acad\u00e9micas y sin fines de lucro que se dedican a la investigaci\u00f3n sobre el clima y la descarbonizaci\u00f3n en Canad\u00e1, Estados Unidos, Am\u00e9rica Latina y el Caribe.<\/p>\n<p>En Chile, este fondo ha entregado financiamiento a 4 proyectos entre 2021 y 2022:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>El Centro Tecnol\u00f3gico para la Innovaci\u00f3n en la Construcci\u00f3n (CTeC) para evaluar el desempe\u00f1o energ\u00e9tico y la intensidad en carbono de los materiales de construcci\u00f3n utilizados en las viviendas, con el fin de ayudar a difundir m\u00e9todos de reducci\u00f3n de emisiones para este sector, que produce el 23% de las emisiones totales de gases de efecto invernadero del pa\u00eds.<\/li>\n<li>El consorcio liderado por la Pontificia Universidad Cat\u00f3lica de Chile para estudiar los factores que ayudar\u00edan a dise\u00f1ar pol\u00edticas p\u00fablicas que fomenten la adopci\u00f3n de calefacci\u00f3n el\u00e9ctrica como sustituto de la le\u00f1a, lo que favorece una mayor descarbonizaci\u00f3n.<\/li>\n<li>Entidades ligadas a la Universidad de Chile \u2013las que tambi\u00e9n fueron seleccionadas en la primera versi\u00f3n del NZRF en 2021\u2013 para profundizar su investigaci\u00f3n para desarrollar una herramienta que permita establecer protocolos para monitorear el cumplimiento de los compromisos y las acciones de mitigaci\u00f3n de cambio clim\u00e1tico de Chile.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Terry precis\u00f3 que \u201cla inversi\u00f3n ejecutada a trav\u00e9s del Net-Zero Research Fund de Scotiabank nos ayuda a fomentar la colaboraci\u00f3n y el intercambio de conocimientos y crea ese v\u00ednculo esencial entre los institutos de investigaci\u00f3n sin fines de lucro y el sector empresarial, lo cual es indispensable para la transici\u00f3n a un futuro con cero emisiones netas\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>El monto del financiamiento que otorgar\u00e1 Scotiabank en 2023 a las propuestas seleccionadas oscilar\u00e1 entre CAD $25.000 y CAD $100.000.
